The Greenville Area School District will continue to provide each student in grades 4-12 a Google Chromebook to use to complete their school assignments. Providing a device for each student in these grades will allow for greater accessibility to technology while preparing students for an ever-changing world. This accessibility will enable our teachers to better plan learning experiences that inspire our students to be creative, work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and to engage in critical thinking.
Students in grades 4-12 will be assigned a Chromebook that will remain with them from year to year. Chromebooks assigned to students in grades 4-6 will remain at school and are not to be taken home. Chromebooks assigned to students in grades 7-12 will be used both in school and at home.
Before a Chromebook will be issued to a student, families must review the expectations for the care and use of their child’s Chromebook found in the district’s 1:1 handbook. Once you have reviewed the handbook with your child, please sign and return the 1:1 Handbook Agreement form located on the back of this letter. This form must be signed by both the student and one parent/guardian. After the form is signed it is to be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher by August 30, 2023. Students who fail to return a signed agreement form will not be assigned a Chromebook.
